People come to counselling for different reasons. It may be that you need to talk about issues from the past with a person you feel you can speak too, or it may be that you want to make a positive change in your life. Sometimes a person needs the space to have someone listen to their story - other times they are helped by a more goal directed approach. Whatever the reason that you may decide to come for counselling I believe that your ability to feel comfortable with the counsellor is one of the most important aspects.

I am a qualified integrative Counsellor. This means that I tailor my approach according to your needs. I see you as the expert in your personal difficulties but this does not limit me from being open and honest and making suggestions or using specific techniques where it is appropriate. As a Counsellor I have additional specialist training in bereavement, couple counselling, motivation and behaviour change. In addition to Counselling I am also an Associate lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University specialising in motivation and behaviour change. Prior to training as a Counsellor I worked as an Occupational Therapist.

Areas I work with:

  • Personal/ relationships issues
  • Anger management
  • Work related issues and career counselling
  • Bullying
  • Stress, anxiety and panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Abuse
  • Low self-esteem/Confidence
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Motivation and personal development

I am aware of the potential anxiety around coming to a first counselling session. It is really important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor and find the right person for you. The first session is a chance for you to see if this type of counselling suits you and plan the way forward. For this reason I offer the first session at a reduced cost rate of £20.00. After that I use a sliding fee based on your income.
