I am a Diploma qualified BACP registered counsellor with a post graduate qualification in Couple Counselling. I work with both individuals and couples on a short or long term basis. I have experience of working with the following issues:
Often counselling is sought when a client is experiencing confusion distress and despair in their life. For others it may be an issue that has been in the background and neglected for some time. Our capacity to change can be limited by a large range of things; skills experiences perspectives courage support insight into what might need to change and ability to identify what might be holding us back. I offer clients a private space where they can think and talk in complete confidence. My theoretical approach is integrative placing the relationship between client/s and therapist at the centre of the therapeutic process but drawing on psycho-dynamic systemic and behavioural theory where relevant to the issue or individuals.
My career in counselling began ten years ago when I joined the Terrence Higgins Trust as a volunteer an organisation supporting those living with HIV and AIDS. At that time I was working in a corporate environment helping managers develop their interpersonal and communication skills. I decided I wanted to train as a counsellor to enable individuals (and later couples) to gain a greater understanding of themselves improve their emotional and psychological well being and engage in life in a more positive way.
